a yr 10 artwork piece i did. we had to choose ‘issues’ and i chose violence. basically i made a collage of newspaper clippings and other such things including random stuff like baking paper, then b&w photocopied the whole thing, and selected a ‘zone’ to focus on and added red for the effect

opshopping finds.

i always wonder what the previous owner was like, what their story was, how that item of clothing linked to their lives, where they wore it, what memories were made wearing it. to me it’s sort of special. like by wearing the clothes i’m continuing some sort of story.

mm. red. red. red. lots of it. here. there. everywhere.

did i also mention how hard it is to paint your own face? this is the only half decent thing i’ve managed on myself. it’s also less exciting than being inches away from another person’s face with a paintbrush at hand, and them not knowing what crap you’re scribbling all over their face.

would have been much more interesting if i had a model so that the head positions would be the same- and have the tears as a progression (which i attempted…and failed to do). but anywho it was fun standing in the bathroom painting my face, with my mum knocking angrily on the door shouting at me to get out, and me replying back that i was painting myself… and taking pictures. what for mum? because i want to. mmm these are slightly creepy…and slightly…ok no, they majorly suck…but hey you try painting your face and see how it goes.

(just another note) believe it or not. this isn’t just random- there’s something going on here…e.g. some may just look at it and be like pfft. and that’s really not a problem. but there is some meaning behind this…for me. but feel free to take whatever u want away from this. like…she’s a freak? mm.
